When the pedigree is fake

encipedigreeroirsrloilir

At the request of some website users, today I would like to talk to you about a topical subject: pedigree forgery!

WHEREAS. I believe that the value to be attributed to a dog, should be legate “only” To the emotional relationship that is created with him and certainly not to membership in a particular race; I consider it legitimate that those who opt for The purchase of a purebred dog, attracted by his Character peculiarities, should be assured that it really is and not simply that it resembles him.

In previous articles we have clarified the following aspects:

  • Pedigree is the dog’s identity card
  • It tells us all about the genealogy of the dog up to 4 generations back
  • It is an official document, and the Ministry has decreed that ENCI is the only body authorized to issue pedigrees and manage herd books for purebred dogs
  • Dogs without pedigrees cannot be called purebred, even if they appear to be such
  • They cannot be transferred in exchange for money (Legislative Decree No. 529 of Dec. 30, 92)
  • Pedigree certifies checks have been made for the prevention of hereditary diseases
  • A Pedigree costs only €20.00 (see Enci institutional rates), so anyone who tells you that to provide it to you would have to raise the price of the puppy considerably is telling a “hogwash”!

ENCI issues two types of pedigrees, let’s see the difference together:

  1. ROI (formerly LOI) or “Italian Book of Origins.”
To which only dogs whose relatives (paternal and maternal ascendants) are themselves registered (and thus have the Pedigree) up to the previous 4th generation are registered. In addition to attesting to the registration in the Book of Origin, the Pedigree reports all the dog’s data: pedigree – any titles achieved – breeder and owner details – group and breed affiliation – coat color – date of birth – microchip number – and is easily recognized by its pink/yellow color.

  2. RSR (formerly LIR) or “Recognized Supplementary Register”
The following can be entered: both dogs with a family tree of less than 4 generations and individuals belonging to recent breeds recently recognized in official cynophilia. The color in this case is green and can be:
    (a) 1st degree – dog is progenitor and parents are unknown.
    (b) 2nd degree – only the dog’s father and mother are known.
    (c) 3rd degree – you know parents and grandparents.
    (d) 4th degree – great-grandparents are also known. In this case, the pedigree can be extended to the ROI
In this case, The owner of an undocumented dog, That has the requirements of typicality of its breed, can register for an ENCI-recognized dog show in the appropriate RSR class, where a judge will evaluate The morphological characteristics of the dog and If he deems them to meet the breed standard, Will issue a certificate of typicality. Pups of such a subject, will have a 1st generation RSR pedigree and so on, up to the 4th generation (a prerequisite for obtaining an ROI pedigree.

At this point you may wonder where the catch is?
According to ENCI regulation art. 13 the registration of Chihuahuas with the RSR is currently precluded, so be wary of anyone who tells you that they can get you a Pedigree for your dog, not only do they not have the authority to do so, but they are even criminally liable.
