Fulfillment pheromones

Fulfilling pheromones in dogs and cats are physiologically secreted from the female’s intermammary groove during lactation and are responsible for reassuring sucklings and inducing emotional stability and security.
It seems that such properties persist into adulthood , regulating the emotional state of the dog and cat throughout life. The synthesis of these molecules for therapeutic purposes has provided an additional weapon for the Veterinary Behavioral Health Practitioner, as well as for the Dog Educator who would like to make use of them, since they are all freely available commercial preparations, thus not subject to prescription. The effectiveness of pheromones is confirmed by numerous international publications. These products are in the form of collars and environmental diffusers in the dog, which allow constant release of pheromones for a prolonged and continuous effect of 1 month; in the form of nebulizer and environmental diffuser in the cat.

Possibilities for use in the dog are:

  • Promote the puppy’s proper socialization towards strangers, other dogs and new situations; can be used from 3 to 4 months until 6 months of age.
  • Control fears in the external environment (loud noises, strangers).
  • post-traumatic phobias.
  • Puppy adoption and adaptation to new environment.

Uses in the cat are:

  • Urinary markings in the home.
  • Vertical scratches.
  • Transportation sickness (meowing, agitation, etc.).
  • Puppy adoption and adaptation to new environment.

I would like to point out with the use of these products cannot be the only corrective or therapeutic intervention put in place to approach the behavioral problem, otherwise the therapy will fail. I believe this is the cause of the complaints that some users reserve for the product, being misinformed about the real corrective possibilities of the product.
